A New Milestone for PMO Professionals: The PMI-PMOCP Certification
With the recent acquisition of the PMO Global Alliance, PMI has expanded its certification portfolio with the brand-new Project Management Office Certified Professional (PMI-PMOCP™).
I began my journey as an IT PMO at Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions in 2018, a newly created role that required me to build the function from the ground up. While the challenge was immense, I wasn’t alone. My boss, peers, and experienced professionals I connected with through PMI played a crucial role in guiding me along the way, and after years of hands-on experience, it was time to put my knowledge to the test. On January 15,, 2025, I took the PMI-PMOCP™ exam.
Why? Because certifications validate not just what we know, but the expertise we’ve built through practice. Studying for this certification deepened my understanding, especially of PMI’s PMO Value Ring model, which is a structured 10-step approach to analyzing stakeholder needs and measuring PMO performance.
