On May 12 2026, the Netherlands Chapter proudly celebrated PMO International Day with an inspiring gathering hosted by Booking.com at its Amsterdam office. The event brought together project professionals, PMO leaders, and transformation experts to exchange ideas and explore the evolving role of modern PMOs in today's rapidly changing business environment.

One of the highlights of the evening was an engaging presentation by Laura Roversi, Vice President of the PMI Netherlands Chapter, titled “The Strategic Role of PMOs: From Governance to Value Creation.” Laura shared valuable insights into how PMOs have transformed over the years. While PMOs were traditionally associated with governance, compliance, reporting, and standardized processes, today they are increasingly seen as strategic partners that help organizations drive transformation and adapt to change.

She highlighted how modern PMOs now play a much broader role, aligning projects with business strategy, optimizing portfolios to maximize value, supporting agile and hybrid ways of working, improving operational efficiency, enabling digital transformation, and strengthening risk and compliance management.

A strong message throughout the session was that PMOs are no longer viewed simply as control functions. Instead, they are becoming key drivers of business value, innovation, and organizational success.

The evening concluded with an inspiring outlook for the future, emphasizing that PMOs must continue evolving into adaptive, value-focused organizations that support innovation, resilience, and sustainable growth.
