Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a growing global generosity movement that drives giving and collective action in communities worldwide. It's a simple idea. Whether it's making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving what we can to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts.
The initiative was created in 2012 as a joint project between New York City’s 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation.
The Giving Tuesday movement focuses on giving and raising awareness of those in need. It acts as a counterweight to the retail shopping events that immediately precede it on the calendar: Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
This year, Giving Tuesday was December 3. Giving Tuesday was designed to encourage people to open their wallets and make donations to worthy causes. The PMI NL Chapter Social Good's mission is to empower individuals through project management, enabling them to build better futures and contribute to a better world. In line with this mission, we have joined the Refugee Opportunity Network. Refugees, often highly educated and skilled, are forced to leave their countries due to political or socio-economic reasons. On average, it takes four years for refugees with official status to find employment and overcome numerous challenges. If you are inspired to make a financial donation to a good cause, perhaps you will consider a donation to the related fundraiser created to help empower refugees, promote their talents, and help them embark on successful careers through community, mentoring, education, and networking at https://gofund.me/ac04bf31.
We also suggest PMI NL members consider supporting impactful organizations such as World Central Kitchen (WCK), which provides nourishing meals to communities around the world, including those affected by the severe flooding in Valencia. Donations can be made through various methods, including online platforms and direct bank transfers. Additionally, Cruz Roja is actively involved in relief efforts in Valencia, offering multiple channels for donations to aid those impacted by the floods, ensuring that help reaches the most affected areas. These options allow members to contribute to meaningful causes and make a positive difference. Together, we can provide hope and support to the people of Valencia in their time of need.
Consider making other gestures to support your communities, like volunteering your time. PMI Netherlands Chapter is run entirely by volunteers. We are a group of enthusiastic project managers and seasoned leaders working together to help advance the profession and positively impact other people's lives.
Volunteer with us and make a difference in the project management profession, your community, and your life. Start forging lasting relationships with other volunteers and professionals around the globe. Take this chance to leverage opportunities offered by our Netherlands Chapter to develop your personal leadership skills.
These options allow members to contribute to meaningful causes and make a positive difference. Join the GivingTuesday movement and reimagine a world built upon shared humanity and generosity.
