Meet our board member: Shalini Mansharamani.
What motivated you to join/continue being part of the PMI NL Board?
I started my journey with PMI NL as a volunteer shortly after receiving my CAPM certification in 2023, supporting initiatives within the Professional Development team. In particular, they were concerned with mentorship and community growth. Over time, I also had the opportunity to launch the podcast initiative for the Netherlands Chapter, inspired by similar initiatives in Belgium and Luxembourg.
At one point, I genuinely felt I had fulfilled my role as a volunteer and was ready to step away. However, after seeing the trust and confidence members placed in me through the Board election process, I felt a strong sense of responsibility to continue serving this community.
This is my first year as Director of Professional Development, and what continues to motivate me is the opportunity to help create meaningful learning experiences, strengthen connections within the community, and contribute to the growth of project professionals across the Netherlands.
What is your role on the board, and what are you most excited to work on?
As Director of Professional Development, my focus is on creating meaningful learning and growth opportunities for our members. This year, I'm especially excited about expanding our Mentorship Program, launching AI-focused learning sessions for project professionals, and building engaging conversations through podcasts and webinars that connect strategy, innovation, and real-world experiences.
PMI NL is a community built by its members and volunteers, so if you have ideas, initiatives, or suggestions on how we can continue to improve and grow our Chapter, please feel free to reach out — we always welcome fresh perspectives and collaboration.
What professional or personal experience do you bring to the board?
Professionally, I bring experience in PMO, strategic communications, and large-scale transformation programs within international organizations. Through both my professional work and my involvement with PMI, I've developed a strong interest in leadership through influence, community building, and the creation of learning experiences that feel practical, relevant, and accessible.
Personally, I enjoy connecting people, facilitating meaningful conversations, and building spaces where professionals can learn and grow together.
What do you hope PMI NL members gain most from the community?
I hope members gain not only knowledge and professional opportunities, but also a sense of connection and belonging. PMI NL is a space where people can learn from one another, grow together, and feel supported at different stages of their careers.
A fun or human touch: something about you people might not know.
Outside of project management, I enjoy reflective writing, meaningful conversations, and exploring new cities and cultures. I’m someone who finds inspiration in quiet moments, human stories, and perspectives that encourage deeper reflection and connection.
25 years from now...
25 years from now, I hope PMI NL continues to be a forward-looking and inclusive community that not only adapts to change but also actively helps shape the future of project management.
As technology, AI, and automation continue to transform the way we work, I believe the role of project professionals will evolve far beyond delivery — toward strategic thinking, adaptability, and human-centered leadership.
My hope is that PMI NL continues to create a space where innovation and technology are embraced, while still keeping learning, connection, and the human side of leadership at its core.
