Meet our volunteer
My journey to the Netherlands was originally meant to be temporary.
I’m half Italian and half Dutch, and I moved to Delft to pursue my PhD. During that time, I met my husband, and what was meant to be a temporary stay turned into a much longer adventure.
After completing my PhD, I spent several years working in research. While I enjoyed the scientific depth, I gradually realized that what energized me most was not only the detailed work, but also the bigger picture: collaborating with teams, coordinating efforts, and connecting different perspectives to move things forward.
When I transitioned into the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, that interest naturally evolved into a career in project management. Over time, project management and later program and PMO leadership became my professional focus.
Along that journey, I became involved with the Project Management Institute and the PMI Netherlands Chapter. Even before obtaining my PMP certification, I was already attending events, summits, social gatherings, and webinars. These experiences provided not only valuable insights into project management practices but also a vibrant professional network. At one point, I even had the opportunity to contribute by hosting a webinar myself. Later, when I was working on professionalizing the PMO I was leading, I reached out to the PMI community to exchange ideas and connect with experts.
Joining as a volunteer felt like a natural next step.
Like many volunteers, I believe strongly in giving back to a community that has provided so much value over the years. Social good and sustainability are causes particularly close to my heart, and I’m excited to contribute to initiatives such as training programs for refugees and raising awareness about sustainability in project management.
At the same time, volunteering is also a powerful learning experience. By working with people from different industries, cultures, and backgrounds, we broaden our perspectives and continue to grow—not only as professionals but also as individuals.
I'm very much looking forward to contributing and collaborating with this inspiring community.
