Chapter News

Hello PMI-NL, I am Stacey Wong and I am currently working with Cristina Cordova as the Deputy of Events for the PMI-NL chapter.  Most recently, I organized the End-of-Year Event Gala at Blijdorp Shark tunnels in Rotterdam. If you were there, I think you’d agree, it was an amazing time! For the past year, I’ve been working on our monthly networking events where I’ve met so many of our chapter members. 

My family and I moved to the Netherlands 2 ½ years ago from Los Angeles, CA. My husband is Dutch, so besides him, my children are Dutch citizens.  I, on the other hand, must go through Inburgering for my permanent residency. Learning to speak Dutch has been quite a challenge for me! We have all had our ups and downs but ultimately are glad to call the Netherlands home.

I recently started a new role with DP World as their People Systems Implementation Program Director.  There are a lot of interesting challenges in my new role, but I know I’m in the right place, with the right people at the right time.  There aren’t many times in life this happens, but for me, it is now.

The PMI organization has offered me so many avenues to explore and develop my career at all stages. I received my PMP in 2015, but I’ve been a member of PMI since 2008.  In fact, in 2020, I was chapter president of the California Inland Empire. Due to Covid, it wasn’t a regular year for the chapter, but I still did and learned a lot!

PMI-NL has been so welcoming to me since I joined a year ago. Initially I joined to look for a job, but I soon found friends and colleagues I really needed and enjoyed.  Looking for work was very emotional draining, but this chapter’s members have been encouraging, helpful, kind, thoughtful.  This helped me feel like the person and program manager I know I am.  Finding this new role with DP World was not just a celebration for me and my family, but also with the PMI-NL friends I have found. It has meant the world to me.
