PM Skill Builder – Summer edition: How to use your downtime to skill up

PM Skill Builders

Summer break is the chance to rest and relax for most of us. But it can include an opportunity to build your skills and prepare you for what comes next. Here are 3 simple and easy things you can do to bring your A-game when you return to work.

  1. Read up

Reading can be both relaxing and educational. Using your beach time to read the latest thinking about project management or business acumen. Give yourself the summer break to consider how you can apply one or two ideas to your work when you return to the office.

Are you looking for a good read? See Alejandro Fernández's PMI NL monthly book reviews. Get the link to his playlist here for his playlist of great summer reads. LINK

  1. Learn for Free

Access free content from YouTube. You can learn almost anything from this online resource. Why not watch a few podcasts or videos on Project Management or Power Skills? So, relax, kick back, and learn from the best.

Do you need a few examples for inspiration?

  1. Leverage new tools

Focused content can help you learn faster. Tools like Blinkist can help. This app delivers podcasts and book summaries of around 15 minutes so you can get the idea quickly before spending the money and time to absorb the entire book. Listen to award-winning presenters, and get playlists - these are curated content with various topics and speakers around a specific subject.

Are you looking for options? You can find the Blinkist app on your phone. And if you are looking for great material as we head into the fall, the Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg PMI Chapters will soon launch a new Podcast called PM Untold. More on that soon.
