PMO journey - Mirjam Foti - Lunch session
During this well-attended lunch session, Mirjam Foti took us on her journey to implement a PMO in a Pharma/ Biotech company. She shared her pearls of wisdom with us. After a short introduction about the development of a new medicine in the pharma world, she discussed where the PMO can fit in. As there are many types of PMO, like a departmental, enterprise, controlling and tactical, it became very clear that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. It is highly dependent on the question of what does an organization need and where and how can your PMO bring value? There are many factors that influence the choice for a “type” of PMO, like industry, company size and organizational maturity. But the focus is always on bringing value to the organization. But how to bring value in the VUCA world of pharma?
Mirjam talked us through her pragmatic approach to set-up a PMO. The best approach is to have it structured and in different phases. Set-up, build-out and sustain.
