Even in these turbulent times, we, as a project management community, think ahead to the future. If you are interested in the above topic, please help us answer some questions about the standards for projects.

 

Since 2007, the ISO 21500 family of international standards for project, program and portfolio management and governance has been developed (for products see https://www.nen.nl/NEN-Shop/Projectmanagement-1.htm). The Netherlands has been actively involved in this from the beginning. Organizations can use these independent and globally recognized standards as GUIDELINES to improve the governance and management of their projects.

 

An ISO working group is currently looking for an answer to the question: "Is there a demonstrable need for organizations to have a certifiable ISO management system standard for projects, programs and portfolios (in short PMSS)?"

 

The PMSS will be compatible with other ISO management system standards, such as ISO 9001 for quality and easy to integrate into the overall quality management system of the organization. When implementing the PMSS, an organization (or a department within the organization or a temporary organization for a large project) can demonstrate through certification that its project management environment functions well from executive to management level.

 

With this questionnaire, we want to investigate whether organizations have certain bottlenecks in the governance and management of their projects, programs, and portfolios, which could be resolved with a certifiable ISO standard. We also ask you for opportunities that such a standard could offer.

 

The target group for this questionnaire are representatives of organizations in all sectors in the Netherlands that are involved in governance and managing and/or realizing projects, programs and/or portfolios of projects. We request to respond on behalf of your organization or with your organization in mind. So, if you are an individual project manager, think, when you respond, about the organization in or for which you work.

The NEN/ISO standards committee “Project management” will then analyze the individual responses and process them into a position on behalf of the Netherlands.
