Support the Social Good Refugee Pilot Program
At PMI, our mission is to empower individuals through project management, enabling them to build better futures and contribute to a better world. In line with this mission, we have joined the Refugee Opportunity Network.
Refugees, often highly educated and skilled, are forced to leave their countries due to political or socio-economic reasons. On average, it takes four years for refugees with official status to find employment and overcome numerous challenges. Ugur Yesilyurt's story inspired us to start this initiative, and it stands as a testament to the power of our community.
"As a newcomer to the Netherlands, I encountered significant challenges in finding employment despite my high qualifications and strong motivation, primarily due to my limited Dutch knowledge. Recognizing the importance of networking, I joined the PMI NL Chapter and participated in its mentoring program. This experience not only helped me expand my network and enhance my soft skills but also allowed me to volunteer at the PMI Netherlands Chapter. As a refugee, I deeply value initiatives like PMI supporting newcomers' professional journey."

The Refugee Opportunity Network comprises governmental organizations (COA), non-profits, and businesses. We aim to empower refugees, promote their talents, and help them embark on successful careers through community, mentoring, education, and networking. These goals align perfectly with our PMI values: Be Welcoming, Together We Can, and Embrace Curiosity.
We are committed to offering 10 refugees membership, CAPM training and certification, and inclusion in our chapter community. PMI Global has generously provided a reduced-value bundle, and we are now raising funds via GoFundMe to support this initiative.
