From Linear Contracts to Circular Impact: Rethinking Construction Project Delivery through the P5 Lens
The construction industry is increasingly embracing circular economy principles, yet many
projects continue to be delivered through contractual and governance models designed
for linear value creation.
While organisations are setting ambitious sustainability and circularity goals, project
delivery systems often remain focused on short-term cost, scope, and schedule
optimisation. This creates a fundamental disconnect between circular ambitions and
project outcomes.
This session explores how project leaders can bridge that gap by applying the GPM P5
framework to construction and infrastructure projects. Participants will examine how
contracts, procurement strategies, governance structures, and project decisions influence
sustainability outcomes across the full asset lifecycle.
Using real-world examples from the construction sector, the session demonstrates how
the P5 lenses—Product, Process, People, Planet, and Prosperity—can help project
teams identify unintended consequences, evaluate trade-offs, and make decisions that
create long-term value.
The session challenges participants to rethink project success beyond delivery metrics and
consider how project delivery systems can be redesigned to support circular impact.
