Research Awards

The Dutch Project Management Research Awards, jointly organized by PMI Netherlands Chapter and IPMA Netherlands, celebrate the very best of student research in the fields of project, program, and portfolio management. The awards aim to recognize high-quality academic work while building bridges between the research community and project management professionals across the Netherlands.

The 2024 edition of the awards, held in collaboration with Delft University of Technology, was a great success. We welcomed a full room of students, professionals, and academics to hear the finalists present their outstanding theses. The afternoon featured a mix of fresh academic insight, practical relevance, and lively discussion. Demonstrating how student research can contribute directly to the evolution of the profession. Building on the success of this edition, we are pleased to announce that the 2025–2026 edition of the Dutch Project Management Research Awards will open for submissions in September 2025.

If you are a bachelor’s or master’s student who has written a thesis on a topic related to project, program, or portfolio management during the academic year 2025–2026, we warmly invite you to submit your work. Submissions should be accompanied by a brief endorsement from your academic supervisor. A panel of academic and industry professionals will assess the submissions and select a shortlist of nominees, who will be invited to present their work during the award event in early 2026.

Awards will be presented in several categories, including gold, silver, bronze, and an audience choice award. In addition to receiving formal recognition, winners benefit from exposure through PMI and IPMA’s professional networks, the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience, and increased visibility as emerging voices in the field.

Whether you're a student eager to share your research or a professor who would like to nominate a promising thesis, we encourage you to participate. The call for submissions will open in September 2025, and full details will be published here and via our social media channels.
