Time Value of Carbon - delivering the Paris Agreement

Ways of Working

The Paris Agreement's carbon budget is running out faster than most realise - and conventional tracking metrics often obscure this. Time Value of Carbon (TVC) is a fast-growing approach to converting the remaining global carbon budget into clear, actionable targets for companies and countries.

This lunchtime webinar takes a "back to basics" look at where we really stand against the Paris Agreement, introduces the TVC method, and shows how it  could add value to sustainability standards and frameworks like the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

We’ll also discuss the potential of determining the financial impact of carbon performance and expanding the TVC-model into a financial Net Present Value model. Limitations of this approach will also be discussed.

We'll close by applying TVC to several high-profile Dutch infrastructure and energy initiatives, testing whether they're truly on track for net zero.

As a father, he's personally invested in seeing the Paris Agreement succeed - for the sake of a liveable planet for the next generation.

Professionally, he applied Time Value of Money principles to drive financial outcomes and has proposed a natural extension - Time Value of Carbon - to help accelerate delivery of the Paris Agreement targets.

Following a strong reception at the PMI Benelux Summit 2025, he founded the Time Value of Carbon Working Circle, a group of professionals working to turn this thinking into action.
