PM Fair: Unlikely Events and Misinterpretations
This presentation is a revised version of what I presented in PM Fair 2017, titled “Stop! Superstars are your worst source of inspiration”. I decided to revise and present it again because of its importance in our current situation.
The problem I’d like to address is that most resources about business/project success use superstars like Apple, Google, Facebook, and Netflix as inspiration. However, these superstars are not good sources of inspiration because extreme success is highly dependent on unlikely events, and unlikely events are… well… unlikely! Also uncertain.
If you like time-travel and the idea of parallel-worlds, you will love this session!
About the Speaker
Nader K. Rad | I started working with projects about 24 years ago: first, as a project planner in construction projects, and then I moved to large process-plant projects. In parallel, I was also involved in IT projects and startups. I gradually moved from project planning into the wider project management domain by helping project managers and companies improve their project, program, and portfolio management systems. Nowadays, I’m spending most of my time contributing to standards (P3.express, NUPP, PRINCE2®, PRINCE2 Agile®, and the PMBOK® Guide), and developing eLearning courses in our company, Management Plaza (https://mplaza.training).
